Jenee Fleenor is a singer, songwriter, recording artist and studio musician originally from Springdale, Arkansas. She broke glass ceilings as the first female ever nominated and winning Musician Of The Year at the CMAs in 2019. She has won Musician Of The Year the past 4 years and is up for her 5th nomination in 2023. Jenee is also a 2-time ACM Specialty Instrument award winner. She was just a toddler when her musical journey began as she started Suzuki classical violin lessons and her singing voice showed up shortly thereafter, but it was her dream of being a fiddle player on Nashville recording sessions that drove her to leave Springdale fresh out of high school in 2001. Now, working on her 22nd year in Music City, Jenee’s dream has become reality as she is one of the most sought-after session musicians of the day and has played on countless hits: Jon Pardi’s “Heartache Medication,” “Dirt On My Boots,” “Last Night Lonely,” Sam Hunt’s “Hard To Forget”, Cody Johnson’s “’Til You Can’t,” and the following albums: Carly Pearce 29: Written in Stone, Kelsea Ballerini Subject to Change, and Bailey Zimmerman Religiously.
However, the storied studio career is just the tip of the iceberg for this good ol’ girl. Jenee has toured with a whole slew of artists since 2001, some of the most notable being Blake Shelton, Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Terri Clark, Martina McBride, Don Williams, Jimmy Fortune and Larry Cordle & Lonesome Standard Time. As a songwriter, Fleenor has had cuts by Kathy Mattea, Reba, Blake Shelton, and Gretchen Wilson to name a few. She was also nominated for IBMA song of the year when The Grascal’s and Dolly Parton recorded “I Am Strong.” “Big Blue Raindrops,” was penned by Fleenor and Larry Cordle, and was on The DeI McCoury Band’s Grammy winning album The Streets of Baltimore that hit #1 on the bluegrass charts. In 2019 she
made her debut as an artist on the Grand Ole Opry following the release of her song “Fiddle and Steel”, featuring a stunningly radiant vocal performance of heartfelt nostalgia for the sights and sounds of her childhood. Most currently, Jenee and four of her superbly talented fellow musicians have formed a new acoustic supergroup called the Wood Box Heroes, serving as the conduit for this insanely talented lady to travel back into the land of her singer/songwriter youth as the band finishes up their all-original debut album.
Marla Cannon-Goodman grew up in Kingston Springs, TN. She grew up surrounded by some of the greatest songwriters in the business, with one of them being her own father, Buddy Cannon. Marla was working as a nurse when her song “The Fool”, recorded by Lee Ann Womack reached number one on the country charts. She has cuts by every one from Sammy Kershaw, Billy Currington, Blake Shelton, Eric Church, Kenny Chesney, George Strait and many others. Marla has twice more reached number one status with “Ten Rounds With Jose Cuervo” by Tracy Byrd, and “Cleaning This Gun” by Rodney Adkins. You can also find her name on the Willie Nelson/Merle Haggard duet album “Django and Jimmie”. Her song “Same Devil” recorded by Brandy Clark (featuring Brandi Carlisle) is nominated for the 2022 Grammy American Roots performance of the year.
Josh Martin is an artist from the coal fields of Eastern Kentucky whose musical works live somewhere beyond the outskirts of mainstream country music but comfortably on this side of the ancient bluegrass tones of his Appalachian heritage. Josh’s independently released 2019 album, Nothing Holding Me, displays a balancing act of timbral accessibility and lyrical credibility, replete with honest songwriting and extraordinary musicianship, while more current releases, like 2020’s “Cold Again”, “Strange Times”, and 2022’s “The Burden of the Mountains”, exude an untamed energy seldom found in popular music of the day. Moving to Nashville in 2013, Josh’s singing, songwriting and guitar playing helped him make quick friends with the legendary songwriting community on Music Row and in 2016 he inked his first publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music. Shortly thereafter, the team at Sony’s Treehouse Records released a tandem of pop country tunes in “How’d You Know” and “Just My Luck”, giving Martin some industry recognition, all the while leaving him with the feeling that there was much more to his artistry than what was commercially expected. Eventually parting ways, Josh stepped into the freedom to create and put on display his authentic take on American music, with traces of Guy Clark and Darrell Scott in his lyric, the echoes of Tony Rice in his guitar licks, and a hint of old-time spirituality in his brawny yet smooth baritone voice.
